Coming in May 2018, the new GDPR regulations are front of mind for most businesses – as well they should be.
Replacing the existing Data Protection Regulations, GDPR comes in to force providing consumers with extra protection. Consumers will have the right to request that their personal data be deleted from a company’s records, and will have a greater say in how their data can be used. Businesses will have no choice but to comply, in addition to implementing improved measures to keep their customers data safe.
All businesses will need to review their policies and procedures in respect of GDPR. Data breaches, and failure to comply with customer requests, will result in severe penalties under the new regulations. Fines can be up to 20 million Euros, or 4% of group worldwide turnover, whichever is greater. Hence the fact that businesses just cannot afford to take risks when it comes to GDPR.
If you are currently compliant with the Data Protection Regulations then you start at an advantage, however you still have work to do to ensure compliance with GDPR.
So, how can PayTel Solutions help…?
We can protect the key areas of your contact centre operation, by ensuring that you can continue to record phone calls, but in a GDPR compliant manner.
This is achieved by hard coding an ‘opt in’ prompt at the beginning of every call, with the customer having the option to select whether they are happy to have the call recorded or not. This will then be time and date stamped and available for your records, should a dispute occur with the customer data further down the line. Of course, if you operate in the Financial Services industry you will need to record all your calls so this won’t apply to you, however we can still help you de-scope your entire operation from the PCI regulations – our primary vocation.
